Punta Tombo is a narrow, rocky strip that extends over 3.5 km into the sea and is surrounded by the typical arid and lonely landscape of the Patagonia plateau. This strip hosts the largest colony of Magellanic penguins known all over the world, with approximately half a million animals (approximately 200 thousand mating pairs). One of the most important attractions in this Reserve is the possibility of walking amongst the penguins in their habitat and of interacting with them though without disturbing them.
The birds arrive in this place annually to nest, mate, hatch their chicks and shed their feathers so that they can set out back to northeastern South America and cyclically come back to Punta Tombo the following year.

I'm told that Punta Tombo doesn't open for visitors until December. Does anyone know if this is true and if so, from what date exactl? I was hoping to see them this month (November, 2007).
